Florida Window & Door is a Florida company located in Lakeworth Florida. Their annual revenue is approximately $35 million. It's operating in a booming growth market. As with most growth markets it's poorly regulated. In poor regulatory markets, businesses that should fail can thrive and consumer protections are almost nonexistent. Consumer protection is a matter mostly left to word of mouth. Thus I've taken the time to exercise my 1st Amendment constitutional right to share with you my experience.
Florida Window & Door Field Staff was relatively competent(windows are "installed") and hardworking(shoving elephants into a hamster cages). However, the damage to my home was extensive. It was not until I reviewed my home in daylight that I recognized the totality and how badly I had been underserved.
When I bought these problems to the attention of the back office. The nonchalant/apathetic attitude of the back office was epic. One of the comments was "well that's construction" deal with it. When asked if they had time to hear my concern the answer was "a little time". In the slideshow above, you'll find pictures of the damage, construction debris and chemical waste left for me to cleanup.
THE SANCTITY AND DIGNITY OF MY HOME WAS VIOLATED IN MULTIPLE WAYS:
* Sales engineer only checked in on project after I complained and published this website.
* Project manager only checked in after I published this website.
* Florida Window and Door demonstrated little to no concern about my indoor air quality(I had an asthma attack on the second night of work).
* My expenditures on deep cleaning of ceilings, wall, AC ducts, AC air handler and surfaces was not even asked about.
* During this pandemic, not counting Margate's building inspector Florida Window and Door sent 8 different workmen and 2 different salesmen into my home. Which used my bathroom in a very thorough manner and used my kitchen like a Denny's buffet.
* Numerous promised to properly manage the job was broken, culminating in the City Building Inspector walking into my home uninvited, unescorted and combative. He eventually left without inspecting a single window. The city will have to visit again raising the total potential Covid19 and Covid19 Variants carriers to 10.
* This job started on Wednesday February 18th 10:AM and at the time of this writing Monday March 2nd Florida Window and Door still has not mitigated and/or resolved all issues.
* Due to lack of supplies, preparedness and poor project/job management multiple dates have been set and missed.
* The lead time between my deposit and install was months and months.
* I have or will incur cost for professional home cleaning(from ceiling to floor), laundry(curtains, clothing), air conditioning cleaning(ducts, air handler, air coils, vents), repainting exterior, repainting interior, lawn repair/maintenance, etc...
* Florida Window and Door CGC1509450, thus far this fiasco has involved the following Florida Window and Door staff: Nassiff(Sales), Shawn(Project Manager), Ronney(Site Manager), and Amy(Backoffice).
By trade I work in the Information Technology industry. I have managed IT Helpdesk, Database Programming, General Programming, Project Management, Network Engineering and System Engineering departments for well over 2 decades. In most cases my coworkers were my customers. I hold a Double Major Bachelor of Science(BS) from Florida State University, a Masters of Business Administration(MBA) from Florida Atlantic University and a Information Systems Auditor Certification. With these points in mind, I think it's safe to say... I KNOW BUSINESS...
In my professional life I've been party to many construction projects(groundbreaking to occupancy). These projects have spanned the globe. I've designed, built and installed computer networks on cruise ships, in shipping ports(Caribbean, Florida), skyscrapers(NY, CA, GA) and general office spaces(U.S.). Additionally I've lead numerous disaster recovery operations(i.e. Hurricane Sandy/Wilma, Anthrax terrorist attack, ransomware attacks and etc...) In each of these cases my customers were also my coworkers. In my line of work there is very little room/tolerance for excuses. With these points in mind, I think it's safe to say...
I KNOW CONSTRUCTION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE...
Customer Service is integral part of any business' 360 degree efforts. If one company division is broken, the company is broken. In my opinion, Florida Window and Door is badly broken. It simply does not deserve your patronage or investment. There are many other Florida based companies in the impact windows industry. Any other customer centric focused company entering and exisiting in the impact window and door market could easily compete and suceed againist Florida Window and Door.
Florida's is highly susceptible to hurricanes and one hitting the sate is inevitable. If this is how i was treated during the install I could not imagine how this company will perform once its warranty is invoked during a natural disaster. As an investor, I see a company ripe for a class action lawsuit. Take a look at all the one star Yelp reviews. Florida Window and Door may not be the right company for you. Look at the slideshow above, then decide.
